Alex Miller (she/her) is a contemporary dancer and certified Pilates instructor originally from Louisiana. She earned her BFA in Performing Arts with a concentration in dance in 2010 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In 2019, she completed her MFA in dance from Hollins University in partnership with Frankfurt University/MA Code in Roanoke, VA, New York, NY, Frankfurt, Germany, and Berlin, Germany under the direction of Jeffery Bullock and Christopher Roman, learning from working dance artists from around the globe. 

After her undergraduate studies, she performed in a European tour of a children's show with The Zinghoppers (Nashville, TN) sponsored by the Pentagon. She relocated to Austin, TX where she completed her Pilates certification through Balanced Body University for Pilates mat and comprehensive equipment. She has taught at Somaspace, Ballet Austin's Pilates Center, Mauro Pilates, Myo Massage, Movement, and Acupuncture, and Pilates on Kerbey. She has danced with Verge Dance Company, Lorn McDougal, Katherine Hodges, Jennifer Sherburn, NunaMaana, on music video work for Tinnarose, Kesha lyric video, and backup danced for Grimes at Austin City Limits music festival (2013). She choreographed her first evening length work Forgotten Memories which premiered in 2014. In 2015, alongside Taryn Lavery and Lucy Wilson, BLiPSWiTCH was created; BLiPSWiTCH is a dance company focusing on collaboration and site-specific dance based in Austin, TX, creating evening length works and community performances. Alex teaches the company’s weekly professional dance class to the Austin dance community at First Street Studio.

She has studied in both America and Europe with renowned artists through summer intensives, academia, and personal studies focusing on euro-centric dance techniques and fundamentals. She completed an apprenticeship with DanceInArt in Haarlem, Netherlands in 2014 where she both took and taught classes and had the opportunity to perform at the Toneeschlur Theater.  

Alex has taught contemporary dance in Austin, TX at Tapestry Dance Studio, Alisa's School of Dance, Ballet Austin, First Street Studio, and Tarrytown Dance. She specializes in release-based technique, contemporary floor work, improvisation, and choreographic methods.
